The Basics of Brazing
Brazing is a melting process that involves the joining together of two or more metal items. Into the joint between the items, a melted filler material flows. Compared to the adjoining metal, the filler metal has a lower melting point. This process should not be confused, however, with welding. The workpieces are never melted in the brazing process. Neither does it qualify as soldering. Compared to parts that are soldered, in brazing, the parts are much more closely fitted, and temperatures are higher.
Why use brazing? The reason is that with considerable strength, the process is capable of joining either different or the same types of metals. This is a major advantage.
